Why microelectronics matter

You may not realize it, but microelectronics play an especially important role in technology innovation. Electronics like our smartphones, tablets, computers; medical devices like diabetes and heart rate monitors; and our cars all rely on microelectronics. It’s safe to say that without advancements in microelectronics, we wouldn’t be privy to the technologies we use today. If we want to see Canadian companies become global competitors, we must invest in a microelectronics supercluster to create Made in Canada inventions, that in collaboration with global market leaders, that will pave the way for innovation in markets like autonomous vehicles, advanced manufacturing, health technologies and infrastructure.
